Proposal for an extension on the integration of health and social care in Staffordshire
- 15 Apr
A deal to integrate health and social care, focusing on older people, has proposed an extension.
Staffordshire County Council wishes to agree on a new deal which will help to improve integration between health and social care for its residents, reports ITV.
The deal, if agreed, will extend the partnership between the council and the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Partnership NHS Trust for a further three years initially.
The original agreement was proposed in 2012 and saw the transfer of over 1,100 adult care staff to the trust. This created the country's largest integrated health and social care trust.
Philip Atkins, Leader of Staffordshire County Council has said, "The new agreement looks particularly in more detail at how together we can support the elderly and the more vulnerable get the joined-up care they need through a fully integrated health and social care support system at the best stage for them."
