Government to inspect if housing can reduce NHS costs
- 19 Mar
The government will be looking into whether housing improvements will be able to reduce the costs to the NHS.
In the Budget document the government have said it's looking at the ‘cost-effectiveness of options to integrate spending around some of the most vulnerable groups of people.' This includes ‘exploring whether improving housing can help people with care needs to stay in their homes longer and reduce costs to the NHS.' The Treasury document does not reveal exactly what this would entail, reports Inside Housing.
This announcement comes during increasing moves to integrate housing and health. In a meeting held by the chair of the Conservative Policy review along with several landlords it was discussed how housing and health would be able to work more effectively together.
During the meeting they looked at a number of areas including the appetite of National Health Service bodies being prepared to contract housing associations to deliver services and association playing more of a role in the strategic thinking of health and wellbeing boards.

Also like to hear other delegates examples and the responses to their difficulties. Support solutions are excellent. K.B- Jephson Housing Association
