A SYSTEM WHEREBY PEOPLE CAN GET MORE INFORMED ABOUT ROUGH SLEEPING IS BEING MOBILISED
- 01 Jun
"Streetlink", a system whereby the public can get people informed about problems related to rough sleeping, thereby ensuring support is being mobilised.
The system which was launched by Rough Sleepers Cymru, a coalition of homelessness charities has had a successful year with more than 795 referrals since it was launched.
According to Anthony Kandall, chair of Rough Sleepers, Cymru:
"Streelink helps people make a real difference.
"Often, we can feel helpless seeing the increase in rough sleeping. By contacting Streetlink, the public knows that individuals are being noticed, and can be confident services will help them."
One can become a Streetlink Champion by visiting www.streetlink.org.uk and signing up after which posters and further information about the service can be sent.
Vice chair of Rough Sleepers Cymru, Lesley Phoenix also said:
"The best way of ending rough sleeping is for us to notice it. We need to ensure that we don't just walk past. Streetlink is a start.
"But more people need to know about it. We need the public to get involved, not to walk past."
