Housing group and youth homeless charity join forces

A 10,000-home social landlord in Lancashire has joined forces with a homeless charity to help develop the services it offers to help and support young people facing homelessness.
Charity Key Unlocking Features has joined Progress Housing Group so that it can extend its independent support work.
The charity provides help and support to young people up to the age of 25 who are homeless or worried about becoming homeless. It offers information and advocacy, giving support to young people in their accommodation, a drop-in service, counselling and mediation services as well as employment coaching.
The charity will still have an independent board of management and will continue to operate as a charity within the not-for profit housing group. It will however move to new premises which will be provided by Progress Housing Group in Leyland town centre, reports Inside Housing.
Jacqui De-Rose, group chief executive of Progress Housing Group, said: "I am delighted that our two organisations have come together. Our services are complementary in many ways and, by making the most of our combined knowledge and skills, we will be able to reach more people in need of support services. Key Unlocking Futures will remain an independent organisation and, in partnership, we will aim to increase service provision across the North West, continuing to make a positive difference in the communities in which we work."
Gwen Crawford, chair of trustees at Key, said: "Key Unlocking Futures is really pleased to have joined Progress Housing Group, as we believe they are just as committed as we are to providing excellent services for our clients. We have chosen to take this step because we believe that by working together we will be able to do more to support young people to cope during a difficult time in their lives and to move on to a better future."
