M&S create jobs with Remploy for disabled people

Marks and Spencer have started a partnership with Remploy to create 1,000 jobs for people with disabilities for their online services.
M&S has launched Marks & Start Logistics, a new employability scheme for people with disabilities and health conditions as a branch of their Marks and Start, which was launched in 2004. This will be one of the recruitment channels used for the roles on offer for the new roles of employment is at their distribution centre in Castle Donington, Leicestershire.
They are working with Remploy, which gets disabled people into work, to make sure this group are represented in the process. Remploy said the centre, which will open in early 2013, would provide important opportunities.
Remploy will provide employability skills training before hand, and M&S will arrange two weeks of on-site technical and skills-based training, using simulated equipment. Once completed, there will be a two week work placement as a member of the team in a live environment. There will then be a to decide if a role in the warehouse is right for you.
Marks and Start has received the ‘CommunityMark’, a new national standard designed to recognise companies that are great investors in their communities.
They work with partners DisabledGo, Business Action on Homelessness, One Parent Families|Gingerbread and The Prince’s Trust, and put around 650 people a year through the programme to get them back into the work place.
