A campaign has been launched in Sandwell to target people who commit family and domestic violence.
Run by charity Fry Housing Trust, Sandwell Council and Sandwell’s Domestic Abuse Strategic Partnership, the ‘Brighter Futures’ scheme will be running over the next two years, reports ITV News.
Men and women with a history of domestic violence, or be seen to be at risk of committing offenses will be referred to the scheme.
The scheme is made up of ten group or one to one sessions.
Approximately 5,000 calls are made annually to the police in Sandwell to report domestic violence and abuse incidents
Rob Donath, chief executive of Fry Housing Trust has said: “If we are going to reduce repeat incidents of domestic violence in Sandwell then it’s vital that we break the cycle of offending and place a focus on getting these people into perpetrator programmes."
