Service for Women's support with Violence and Abuse Wins Award!
- 20 Sep
A unique service to help some of the areas most vulnerable women has already helped 300 with vital support.
The Women's Support Service aims to support domestic abuse victims and those in the criminal justice system who are experiencing or are survivors of gender based violence or abuse.
The scheme is the first in Scotland of this kind and has picked up the Adults and Older Care Category at the Scottish Social Services Council, Care Accolades Award.
Philip Dady, senior social worker said:
The Care Accolades Award ceremony with women who had benefited from the service, who are outgoing, confident and full of humour was both gratifying and inspiring.
To witness the impact that the service has on the lives of these women and to learn that our Women's Support Service had been chosen for a national award made the day very special indeed.
The service reaches out to women living in fear of abuse and has supported more than 300 in the past four years.
Not only has it had a positive effect on the lives of women, the service is contributing to a safer community for residents.Source: Clydebank Post
