Charity wants priority for older people in housing
- 01 Jul
Charity Erosh, has written to ministers calling for greater priority to be given to housing for older people.
Erosh represents organisation providing housing and support to 120,000 older people and has written to new government ministers in opposition, reports Inside Housing.
The letter calls on ministers to make housing for older people a priority over the life of the next Parliament. In the letter they emphasise the savings which can be generated for health and social care and reduced hospital admissions.
The charity said: “As the number of older people and their support needs increase, placing even more demands on other agencies, Erosh would like the government to appreciate more the role of sheltered and retirement housing and support services in saving money for health and social care, contributing to the preventative agenda and reducing admissions to hospital”
