ALOK SHARMA HAS BEEN APPOINTED AS THE NEW HOUSING MINISTER

Alok Sharma, who was previously a junior minister in the Foreign Office has been appointed as the new housing minister.
Garvin Barwell the former housing and planning minister, will be replaced by Alok Sharma, as the new housing minister in the Department for Communities and Local Government.
Alok Sharma has done the following:
- Voted for the bedroom tax and for a reduction in welfare spending
- Has been an MP since 2010
- Was appointed Minister for Asia and the Pacific last July
- Was private secretary to the Treasury from 2012 to 2015
- He lists his interests as trade, industry and finance on parliamentary websites
- He is the 13th housing minister in the past 16 years
Mr Sharma has also received the support of housing associations and sector bodies as they look forward to working with him to solve problems in relation to housing.
