HOUSING ASSOCIATIONS AND RIGHT TO BUY REPLACEMENTS
- 21 May
Homes built outside government programmes would be counted as 'Right to Buy replacements' according to a list of recommendations which are now being considered by ministers, this week
Inside Housing reports that:
"A 'sounding board' helping to develop the extension of the 'Right to Buy' made up largely of housing association representatives and led by the National Housing Federation, recommends allowing all properties built by landlords to count as replacements - except those in other government programmes."
"it means, if accepted, homes built without cash from Right to Buy sales could be counted as replacement properties.
The recommendations do however suggest that housing associations should attempt to show "additionality".
Ministers will deliberate on the recommendations of the sounding board and the government plans to establish principles for housing association board to think through, before the rollout of the scheme this autumn.
