HOUSING, YOUNG PEOPLE AND WELSH LANGUAGE COMMUNITIES

Community Housing Cymru (CHC) tries to connect housing, young people and Welsh language communities in a message to the National Eisteddfod in Abergavenny, according to 24Dash
CHC says it's time to bring the Welsh language "home".
'Housing our Futures: Keeping Young Voices in the Community' is a forum that would be chaired by the head of corporate services at Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd, Rhys Evans.
Chief executive of CHC, Stuart Ropke, said:
"Although, the links between housing and health, the economy, education and tackling poverty are all well established, an essential yet lesser known element of the sector's work is all about sustaining and enhancing Welsh language communities throughout Wales.
"Today's discussion forum aims to share and shape ideas around how housing can help to further sustain local communities for young people, particularly where the Welsh language is central."
Carwyn Jones, the first minister and minister for Welsh Language also said:
"In 2011 we introduced legislation to protect the future of the language, and we are confident the discussion we are launching today will continue to help us grow the language so it thrives as a vibrant, living part of our communities.
"Vibrant Welsh speaking communities contribute to the diversity of the country."
