- 10 Jul
A £2m supported accommodation development for people with dementia is to be built in Hemlington Grange, Middlesbrough.
Middlesbrough Council is looking into the “provision of a viable alternative to residential/nursing care” for people over 50 with dementia in Hemlington Grange, report the Gazette Live.
Councillor Julia Rostron has said: “The proposed scheme will result in an investment of more than £2m in an area of the Hemlington Grange development site that would otherwise be underdeveloped and will work to complement the housing and commercial elements of the site.”
The project will see 25 units, which incorporate five five-bed bungalows owned by Thirteen.
Dementia Care will provide the care and operate under a management arrangement with Thirteen. The council will have 100% nomination rights on the tenancies.
