Study shows benefit cuts affect on Scottish communities

New research shows thousands more Scots will be condemned to the hopelessness of unemployment.
Unemployment looms over Scotland as almost 2000 more Scots are to be consigned to the dole.
The statistics have been drawn up by experts at Strathclyde University's Fraser of Allander Institute, in a study requested by Glasgow City Council to work out exactly what the swingeing cuts would mean in the real world.
More than £50million in wages wasted - and £114.8million in benefits taken out of the economy in Glasgow alone.
For weeks, the Record has been exposing the price disabled, sick and vulnerable Scots will face with changes of welfare, from the Atos scandal to the impact of child benefit cuts.
It is not just those who depend on benefits who will suffer. As councillor Matt Kerr points out, "schoolchildren, working families, pensioners and businesses will all suffer as well."
The revelation that the former boss of scandal-hit NHS Lothian "resigned" with a £100,000 pay-off will stick in the throat of patients and hard-working NHS staff.
NHS Lothian were found to have fiddled waiting lists and to have had a culture where bullying was prevalent.
