Awards of £50-250k for social investors!

  • The Big Venture Challenge is giving awards to social investors starting January 2013, as their second round of investments.

The project, funded by the Big Lottery Fund, is set to launch a total of £5m in awards to social investors in 2013, 2014 and 2015, following the successful pilot.

The programme offers intensive support, powerful connections and match funding to help early stage social ventures raise investment to 100 organisations.

In the 2013 cohort, they will be offering ambitious social entrepreneurs the opportunity to work with an expert team to raise investment in their ventures.

Working in partnership with three well-known social investment intermediaries, ClearlySo, The Shaftesbury Partnership, and The Social Investment Business, they will be backing social ventures as a sound financial investment.

From January, they will be selecting 30 organisations, using the following criteria.

    They will be looking for:

    • Ambitious entrepreneurs looking to raise £50,000 - £250,000 of investment to rapidly grow their venture.
    • Individuals or institutions interested in investing £50,000 - £250,000 in some of the most exciting social ventures in England
    • Individuals or organisations interested in working with us to provide support for some of the most exciting social ventures in England

When selecting who we work with, we are agnostic on legal structure, and open-minded on the use of profits. In each individual case we care passionately and work relentlessly to find the most appropriate revenue model and investment strategy to maximise social impact.

Our funding and support doesn't come with fixed ideas on how we think your organisation should grow. We want our support to help in whatever way is most appropriate for the social change you are delivering.
