Could Twitter's new feature make the platform more accessible for people with vulnerabilities?

  • Twitter has announced a new feature called Audio Card which will allow you to discover and listen to audio directly through your timeline on mobile devices.  /images/twitter.jpg

The new Audio Card has been launched in partnership with SoundCloud and allows you to listen to music and podcasts through, and whilst on, the Twitter app.

There is a list of SoundCloud partners in which you can listen to audio content through the app on Twitters blog.

Twitter say that they're just beginning to test the Audio Card and then plan to make it available to more partners and creators in the future.

With this new update, we began thinking of whether this new Audio Card could have a positive impact for those who have vulnerabilities. This use of sound within the app could lead to blog posts which are being tweeted being read to someone with visual impairments before they even leave the app.  For people with learning difficulties who find it difficult to read tweets, could you soon be able to listen to tweets instead?

We think the potential that Audio Card presents to those with vulnerabilities could be extremely effective. What do you think?
