Labour Housing Group has given suggestions to the homelessness situation. According to them, a mere advice to people facing homelessness is not credible.

The group expressed their worry about the scare housing situation and a lack of adequate national financial support for an increased house building programme.

The following suggestions and statistics were also stated:

    • Building 300,000 homes would add 2% to GDP
    • Allowing councils to borrow against the value of their stock and to pay back after 25 years would help to build homes which would last 100 years and more
    • Councils need the freedom to build technologically improved prefabs
    • The government also needs to fully fund local authorities in order for them to meet the new duties required in the Homelessness Reduction Bill

Councils like Labour run Birmingham, for instance, are fighting against the rise of homelessness as many families are stuck in temporary accommodation.

Everything was extremely useful. I like to hear about the updated case law and how things are changing. Also like to hear other delegates examples and the responses to their difficulties. Support solutions are excellent.
