A West Midlands housing partnership has created a scheme which allows social housing tenants to swap their homes.Rural Berlin Street Scenery

The West Midlands Making Best Use of Stock Partnership’s ‘Let’s Swap’ scheme provides tenants with an online service to co-ordinate exchanging their homes with others.

The scheme launched in July 2013 and over 4,000 customers have registers with 60 residents already exchanged their homes, reports 24dash.

The partnership enables tenants who need to downsize due to the bedroom tax swap with those who are in need of larger homes.

Di Middleton, chair of WMBUS, said: “We’ve worked extremely hard within the 29 strong partnerships to launch Let’s Swap and this is evidence of the drive and determination of the partnership to find solutions that make a difference to local people across the West Midlands.”

"It was well-run, in a good location, and very useful.  I've only one suggestion; as the session went on it would perhaps have been useful for bullet points of general agreement about what should be in the sector response to be displayed and added to as the session went on, maybe on a flip chart. Regarding your response paper, I particularly like the answer you give to question 9.  In fact the general: "if it ain't broke don't fix it" response could be pushed harder."
