North Lincolnshire Homes is planning to visit 1,000 tenants as part of a new scheme to help improve its services.

North Lincolnshire Homes provides 10,000 homes and is sending out a team of officers to broach residents on their concerns, offer benefits advice and make sure the social landlord has details of everyone living at the address, reports 24dash. Symbol Home From Hands Isolated On White

The 1,000 addresses have been selected from across North Lincolnshire at random to take part in a pilot programme, though there are long-term plans to roll out home checks to every property.

Darren Bonar, senior home check officer, said: “We realised that after the first year of people’s tenancies we often don’t see our residents other than to carrying out gas safety checks or the odd repair every now & again. It’s important for us to get a good picture of what’s happening inside our properties & Home Checks are a way for us to make sure everything is ok & that people are enjoying living in their homes.”

NLH have said that aside from carrying out annual gas safety checks, some of its tenants will not see staff after the first year of their tenancy. The home checks are designed to give a clearer idea of what it’s like to live in a NLH property and to find out if there is more support needed for residents.
