The Housing Development Unit is responsible for the delivery of a range of partnerships for the provision of affordable housing, including commissioning housing services from 3rd sector agencies.
Responsible to the Development Manager you will be work as part of a team delivering the affordable housing programme. Your work portfolio will include identifying new housing initiatives and supply of affordable housing in the borough, maximising the delivery of affordable housing through negotiating S106 agreements with developers, planners and registered providers (RP’s) in liaison with the Greater London Authority (GLA).
As a Development Officer your work will also include developing and progressing housing schemes for certain supported client groups. You will also play a lead role in the coordination, partnership and delivery of joint working initiatives with RP’s and other parts of the Council
You will therefore have proven experience of working in a local authority or with/for RP’s and you will have proven experience of working with a range of agencies to deliver new homes, an understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the delivery of housing, and a sound understanding of the finance options available.
You will be self-motivated, dynamic, proactive, and innovative, with a project management approach to your work.
