It is believed that over 50 new jobs could be created via a new care services for older people in Willingdon.
A new company has opened, who specialise in care for older people so that they are able to live independently in their own homes, reports Sussex Express.
It is believed that with this new company, around 50 jobs will follow.
Home Instead Senior Care aims to provide care to clients in Eastbourne, Hailsham, Polegate, Pevense Bay and surrounding arrears.
Director, Ian Cottrell, has created this new company following his experience as a volunteer for Age Concern. He said he was shocked at how much loneliness can affect elderly people and how he was able to do simple things that could dramatically improve their daily lives.
The company specialise in non-medical services that help older people remain living in their own homes.
Ian says, “I decided to give up a few hours of my spare time a week to provide companionship to often isolated older people in their own homes. During this time I saw first hand how many of the people that I visited were receiving 15 minute or 30-minute care visits. This was simply not enough time for the carer to understand the needs of the person that they were meant to be caring for, and also very upsetting for the older person who in many instances had no social interaction, apart from the visits from the carers and myself”.

I've only one suggestion; as the session went on it would perhaps have been useful for bullet points of general agreement about what should be in the sector response to be displayed and added to as the session went on, maybe on a flip chart. Regarding your response paper, I particularly like the answer you give to question 9. In fact the general: "if it ain't broke don't fix it" response could be pushed harder."
