A Disability Sport summer holiday programme by Aberdeenshire Council has been deemed a success.

The programme ran for three weeks and included multi-sport camps at Aberdeen Sports Village, reports the Mearns Leader. person_in_a_wheelchair.jpg

Chair of Aberdeenshire Council’s Education, Learning and Leisure Committee Alison Evison said: “This is a great opportunity for people from all over Aberdeenshire, who have a disability or additional support need, to get together and take part in sports.”

Vice chair Charles Buchan added: “It is excellent to see that the holiday programme is so popular. The sessions are linked to ongoing activities throughout the year and people can also take part in clubs thus offering progression for those who wish to take a sport further.”

Disability sports officer Caitlin Dudley said: “A big thank you to all of the coaches at Aberdeen Sports Village and Westburn Tennis Centre and to all of the facilities that were involved in the programme! Look out for information about the October holiday programme coming out soon and come and join in the fun.”
